Two-Way Tuesday

Today I was feeling super girly and carefree. Given my jovial, upbeat mood, I decided to "Two-Way Tuesday" my ASOS Curve Skater Dress. Now, this dress is no longer available, but there are several cute styles currently online that will yield the desired effect. I had a meeting this morning, so I started my day wearing nude peep toe Jessica Simpson pumps and the lia sophia Tudor (short) & Classique (long) necklaces. I also added my lia sophia For You, by Debbie bangles & Amour pinky ring.

Now for the switch... I decided to lose the shoes and necklaces and add my #StyleSteal $9 jean jacket from Wal-Mart, Forever21 Sunglasses, Stella & Dot Lenoa necklace and Heiress hoops and ballet flats from Wal-Mart (not pictured). With my $9 basket from target, my outfit was complete and I was ready for my afternoon picnic.

Thanks for stopping by for a little Two-Way Tuesday inspiration!

Patriot Chic

Today I have the luxury of enjoying a wonderful day at home, in a peaceful community thanks to the sacrifice of our service men and women. Without their continued protection both here and abroad, our streets could be filled with death, terror and chaos. Here in the US, we are so blessed to have so many opportunities that most countries only dream about, and I definitely am thankful for everyone of them. So, Here is my interpretation of our Patriotic Chic. Thank you again for everyone who has and continues to sacrifice for my freedom!

Two-Way Tuesdays: The Little Blue Dress

Two-Way Tuesdays is BACK!!! Today I decided to put a spin on my royal blue, one shoulder cocktail dress. Now I know you are thinking, a cocktail dress at work?!?!?! Yes, you can do it, it's all in how you accessorize it. I will take this look from day to night. For an office ready look, I decided to pair my little blue dress with my FAVE green blazer from Eloquii, Brighton Nolita Python Bag and blinged out ballet flats from Target. As far as my jewelry, I kept it simple for work... my gold lia sophia Mirage necklace worn short, Capri earrings and Spotlight bracelet.

Blue Dress was from Plush Boutique and is no longer available.

Now it's time for the date night switch. I guess i was really feeling the green and blue color combo, so I decided to lose the jacket, add a bold statement necklace (lia sophia Laguna of course) and a lime green skinny belt by Eloquii, with my kelly green Target peep toe mary janes & neon yellow clutch! As you can see, by simply changing the accessories, you are able to create 2 totally different looks for 2 totally different occasions. I challenge you to raid your closet and turn your fave date night dress into a daytime look!

Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash

Thursday night I had a blast at the Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash!!!  Nikka Shae of Oh! Nikka was kind enough to give away 25 VIP passes in a Facebook contest. Thankfully I was one of the lucky few to score a pass. As always, I was ultra early for the event, but that gave me the unique opportunity of shopping in solitude before the masses arrived. Right away I see too of my fave fashionista's, Keren Charles of Two Stylish Kays, and the Spoiled Diva herself, ChaKiva Felder.

Keren & Me

Immediately I spot a clutch on her table that I have been stalking for the past month! This bag is mine and I also grabbed black, Spoiled Diva fitted tee because I am a Spoiled Diva :-) ! After taking a couple of photos, and catching up, it's totally time for a cocktail. I head over to try a Sinless Margarita.

Surprisingly it was quite tasty and refreshing to be only 5 Calories. The secret is that's it's sweetened with Stevia, a plant based sweetener. Now normally, I am not on #teamstevia because it has a weird aftertaste, but like I said, this was actually good. Now that I've grabbed a cocktail, it's time to SHOP! In addition to being able to shop in solitude, I was also able to have first dibs on everything!

There were tons of great vendors there, unfortunately no curvy friendly clothing, but I was able to score some awesome accessories from a variety of fun vendors. I also scored a mini photo shoot with Luxuri Atlanta, some great hair product samples from Miss Jessie's, and a VIP swag bag! I had a great time at the Fashion Bash and can't wait to attend in the future. We Was Homeboyz Premiere

About a week ago I had the opportunity to hit the red carpet at the World Premiere of "We Was Homeboyz". As usual, I arrive way too early and no one else is there besides me & the Rialto Center Employees. As I am waiting for everyone to arrive, I am surprised to see none other than Pastor Troy walk into the building. He politely greeted me and the employees and immediately began to complete some of the finishing touches at his own event. I must honestly say I was taken aback, because a celebrity normally isn't so involved in the detailed set up of their own event. But, like my mama always told me," if you want make sure something is done right, you do it yourself!"

As the evening progresses, the room is buzzing to the sultry sound of the house band from 255 Tapas Lounge, and the crowd is electric. Suddenly, there is a surge of energy that ignites the room, the guest of honor had arrived! Pastor Troy staying true to form, hits the red carpet dressed in a white, general uniform with matching hat and sword, while his DSGB's (Down South Georgia Boys) saluted the general by wearing matching, tailored tuxedo's.

After doing interviews and posing for photos, everyone adjourned to the VIP level to nosh on savory bites and delicious cocktails. The climate of the room was palpable and it was amazing to see how so many people had turned out to support this new addition to the Pastor Troy brand. After about 30 minutes or so, we were all seated for the main event, the Premiere of  "We Was Homeboyz". Now I won't spill the beans about exactly what happened, but the movie was great.

For his very first film, I thought it was executed very well. The acting was good, and it was cool to see so many local businesses highlighted throughout the film. The majority of the movie was shot on and around Peter Street, and is a very accurate portrayal of the the lifestyle of so many young men & women in Atlanta. The overall message I took away from the movie is that no matter how close you are to someone, when the seeds of doubt & jealousy are planted, the turn of events can be fatal. So, without giving too much away, grab this movie when it comes out on DVD. For more info visit www.pastortroy.me .

#JCPFind

A few weeks ago I received an email from a PR firm on behalf of JC Penney. Apparently they took notice of my style from my FAVORITE orange jacket that I have been banned by my friends an family from wearing for a while. Anyway, because of the infamous orange jacket, my friends at JCP sent me a $50 gift card to do a little shopping and sharing. Before I proceed to discussing my outfit, I have to give you some JCP 411.

As of February 2012, JCP has a new Fair & Square pricing system. This is absolutely AMAZING. Simply put, things in JCP will be one of 3 prices; Everyday Pricing, Month Long Values or Best Prices. Also, every 1st & 3rd Fridays, things get marked down to Best Prices. These are dramatically lower than the Everyday Prices, basically like a clearance, so to speak. Since this pricing structure began, I have enjoyed shopping in JCP more.

My store of choice is the free-standing JCP store in Hiram, Ga. This place is always impeccably clean and the racks are always in order. Also they have a free standing Sephora inside!!! Now, let's get down to the nitty gritty and talk fashion. I know some of you are thinking that JCP just has a bunch of mammy pammy clothes that your grandma would wear, but you could not be more wrong. Since the new marketing campaign, JCP has a fresh, new look. They send out monthly catalogues with very vivid and targeted layouts and the clothes are always on trend.

Of course, the book for May was all about moms and daughters in celebration of Mother's Day. In addition to that overall theme, some of the prevailing trends that were seen throughout the book were boho chic, tribal prints, hi-low dresses/skirts, & color blocking. I decided to focus my shopping trip on a combination of tribal/boho chic.

Armed with my $50 gift card, I was determined to complete the majority of the look with that card. The skirt I decided on was fabulous tribal printed Worthington Woman maxi skirt. This skirt does come in misses as well, but I preferred the plus version because it is a cotton jersey material as opposed to the misses being an non-stretchy crepe. Although this skirt was featured in last month's book, the overall look was still on trend with what's going on this May. The best thing about this skirt is that it was only $27. I decided to accompany it with a basic black A.N.A tank top that is month long value priced at $5. With the main components of my outfit only being $32, that left me $18 to accessorize!! I whisked my shopping cart over to the Best Price jewelry rack and immediately grabbed a A.N.A. Snake Necklace for $7,and matching earrings and a bangle for $5 each to complete the look! My grand total with tax was just over budget at $52.30!! How amazing is that??

Feeling so pleased with my Style Steals, I decided to wear my look today. I paired all of my pieces from yesterday with my $3 thrift store blazer and flat, braided sandals from Target for a work look. Shout out to my co-worker/official iPhone photographer Adrian for snapping all my shots. Before leaving work, I had to go into fashionista mode for an event I attended tonight and decided to lose the tank top, necklace and earrings and transform my maxi skirt into a dress! I belted it with my lime green skinny belt from Eloquii, and added my A.N.A Eagle necklace (everyday price $16)  from JCP with my A.N.A hoop earrings (everyday price $12) & Target clutch and platform sandals!

As you can see, you can get a lot for the money at JCP and also look amazing. I encourage you to check out your local store or go to JCP.com to experience the new look of JC Penney!

See you on the front row!

Adventures in Charlotte (conclusion)

Hey Guys, Two Way Tuesday will be back next week. I had to finish telling you about what I discovered at the Metropolitan, Charlotte's version of Atlanta's very own Atlantic Station. After parking my car, I was in immediate search of a Cinco de Mayo margarita. Before making it to the street party, I stumbled upon an ultra luxe boutique called Lotus! With it's corner location, Lotus immediately draws you in with it's bright, festive windows and modern, minimalist interior. The lime green floor is the perfect foundation for all the fabulous clothes, handbags and jewelry. While browsing, Sales Associate Krista Hanline was kind enough to pose for me. Her updated vintage look was amazing and very much on trend.

Krista Hanline

After leaving Lotus, I had a blast partying outside of La Paz and listening to the most AWESOME band ever. Because it was so packed, I decided to dine at a local restaurant called Dressler's. I decided to sit outside to still enjoy the music, but I have to tell you, this restaurant is AMAZING! I had an awesome waiter named Josh who helped me settle on a top shelf margarita and some of his personal faves from the menu. My crew and I loved the Thai Crispy Calamari & the Low Country Crab Dip as our appetizers and our entrees were amazing, but the highlight of the dinner was Mom's Warm Apple Cake for dessert. This cake was like apple pie in the form of a pound cake, totally life changing.

(Photo courtesy of Dressler's FB Page)

After such a wonderful meal, we had to walk it off, so while doing so, I stumbled upon another FAB store called Lipp Boutique. This store was super cute. Lots of on trend fashion and fun accessories full of vibrant colors. Leah was so kind to show me around and also help my mom decide on a fun orange fedora. The best part about Lipp is the "Red Carpet Runway" that runs down the middle of the store. So if you are looking to get a new look and then strut your stuff on the red carpet, be sure to include Lipp Boutique on your Charlotte itinerary.

Leah & Me

All in all, Charlotte is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. Think of it as being Atlanta without the traffic and the recession! I could totally see myself going there at least once a month and I encourage all of my readers to check it out! Be sure to also visit the Metropolitan and all of the fun locations I discovered. You won't be disappointed. Oh yeah, I will tell you about the give-a-way tomorrow!

See you on the front row!
