Black Roses

Last month in Vegas, I stumbled upon the most adorable boutique at the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace. As soon as I stepped inside of Tatyana Boutique, it felt like I traveled back in time. From wiggle dresses to circle skirts & crinolines, I felt like I was raiding the wardrobe closet on the set of I Love Lucy! Tatyana's Boutique specializes in retro inspired clothing that truly celebrates the curves that make women sexy.

While checking out the clothing, I was expecting just to browse, because not many stores on the strip carry plus size clothing. I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up a dress that read size 2x. After digging a little further, I discovered that most pieces went up to a size 4x!! Now don't get too excited, the size chart is also retro inspired with a 4x being a size 16-18. Nevertheless, I picked out several pieces in size 4x to try on. I was super excited to see that most of them fit. Ultimately, I decided on a fabulous circle skirt.

As soon as I saw the Black Roses skirt I knew it had to come home with me. Because I am a #RepeatOffender, I knew that this skirt could be styled for both summer and winter. For my look today, I decided to rock the skirt with my Lavender's Jungle custom crinoline, Old Navy Turtleneck, Cato Houndstooth coat (several years old), and Lane Bryant super opaque tights. To round out the look I added my Just Fab pumps, Alter Ego Clutch and Banana Republic pearl necklace/brooch (3 years old).

What do you think? I am so in love with this skirt and just the vintage style at Tatyana Boutique. There's something about wearing a skirt and a crinoline that makes you want to twirl and kick your heels up. I hope this look inspires you to "Make the world your personal runway"!

See you on the front row-

How to Rock Joggers at Work

A couple of weeks ago, before the weather turned terribly cold, I wanted to rock something a little different at work. Normally, I am not an athletic bottom kind of girl, unless I am working out of course. While redeeming some Torrid Haute Cash, I found a pair of super soft grey joggers. I know that joggers have been on trend for a while, but I wanted to put my spin on things.

The dress code at my office is laid back, but I wanted to create a polished look with my new joggers. To create my ensemble, I decided to pair them with my all time FAVE JC Penney chambray shirt (3 years old) and my black ponte knit & faux leather Lane Bryant tee (sold out online). To round out my look, I rocked my Cayetano Legacy Anna necklace, Betsy Johnson charm bracelet, Arm Candy Crush bag and Torrid sandals.

The fabulous coat I'm wearing was a last minute addition. I had just received it in the mail that day from HSN. It is from the IMAN Platinum Collection and I will be dedicating a full blog post to it very soon!

How did I do? I think I look fashionable, yet still work appropriate. How do you rock your joggers? I'd love to see. Tag me on instagram @everydayrunway with your most stylish look!

See you on the front row!

A Fresh Start

Happy Thursday. I know it's been a while and for that I truly apologize. The past few months have been quite challenging for me both personally and professionally. Although you guys have seen me out at a few events here and there, smiling and and dressed to the 9's, all that glitters isn't gold.

I have really been in turmoil lately and didn't really know why. After taking a step back I realized that my spiritual life has been seriously lacking. Typically I would wait until the beginning of the year to shrug off the past and start fresh, but today I'm deciding to take that step.

In celebration of my "fresh start" I am putting a new spin on my Fashion to Figure plaid jacket. I am doing a little pattern play and adding my houdstooth FTF pants, a black Talbots button down and a black and white FTF peplum jacket. Rounding out the look I am rocking my new Just Fab pumps, Chico's necklace, Kendra Scott ring and FTF clutch.

What do you think? I hope this look inspires you to step out of the box and play with patterns. I also want to thank you guys for your call, emails & messages and for continuing to support me. Until next time!

See you on the front row!

#FTFSELFIE

Atlanta, hold on to your hats! A style storm just blew in town and brought 2 new Fashion To Figure Stores! Last night I had the pleasure of co-hosting the Stonecrest Mall Fashion To Figure opening with Tami Reed of Talking with Tami. We had the best time meeting our instagram followers and of course styling them in the latest trends. The reception of the store was tremendous and curvy girls on the eastside will have a new fashion haven.

Be sure to check out all 3 Atlanta Fashion to Figure locations. If you're on the westside, visit the Arbor Place Mall store in Douglasville. If you're up 75N, be sure to check out the location at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw. Lastly, of course pop in at Stone Crest Mall in Lithonia if you're on the eastside. When you rock your looks, tag your shots in social media w/ #FTFSELFIE.

Kix'ies

Happy September! It's that time of year for the leaves to start changing and for us to begin transitioning into amazing fall fashion. When the weather begins to turn cool and bare legs are no longer an option, what's a girl to do?  Why not give Kix'ies thigh highs a try! I first told you about Kix'ies earlier this year. I fell in love with them because they serve 2 purposes: cover your legs and make you feel sexy.

For fall 2014, they have released a fabulous new line. I recently rocked the Beth Ann Kix'ies. They are a fun, modern spin on the traditional fishnet. Because I love my Kix'ies so much, I'm giving away a pair and giving you a special discount, too!  Enter the raffle below for a chance to win, but also click on over to www.kixies.com  and use the code PARKER to save $5 off of your purchase! Good luck and Happy Shopping!

Two-Way Tuesday:Faux Fall

I am so glad that fall is officially here. Last week I was in Chicago and so enjoyed the weather. Thankfully, the weather cooled off a bit here in Georgia and I was able to rock some of my new cool weather clothes. One of the emerging trends this season is faux leather. From skirts to tops to dresses and everything in between, most fall pieces seem to incorporate some sort of faux leather.

Yesterday my mom and I decided to be twinsies! As most of you know, my mom and I have several of the same pieces in our wardrobe. I love showcasing our style together because I am 33 and she is 61. Many women say that a piece of clothing may be to young for them, but it has nothing to do with the actual piece of clothing, it all comes down to the styling. We both rocked this new Lane Bryant Faux Leather Front Tees for a fun fall look!

I rocked mine with a fun pencil skirt that I scored last month from Lane Bryant, and she rocked hers with a fun Faux Leather Skater Skirt also from Lane Bryant. If you follow me on Instagram, this is the same skirt that I scored last week along with my new knee boots.

To amp my look up a bit, I decided to rock my new Beth Ann Kix'ies Thigh Highs along with my red Federica pumps & Elated bag both from Just Fab. My mom paired her look with a Cayetano Legacy statement necklace and nude Enzo Angiolini pumps.

I think we both did a great job showing 2 similar but very different looks. While I took a more trendy approach, my mom went for a more classic look. I hope our looks show you that you are only as old as you feel and style is a state of mind.

Thursday Three-Way: Lane Bryant Pencil Skirt

Happy Thursday! If you have been following me for a while, you know I love to rock looks that can go from day to play! Because I live outside of the city, going home to change before going out is not an option, therefore my look must be able to transition.

Recently, I scored an amazing ponte knit pencil skirt from Lane Bryant. I was immediately drawn to it because it falls below the knee and it had a cute little hidden zipper over the left knee. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was going to be able to me styled a variety of ways. Last week, I put it to the test. I created a smart, work-ready look by pairing my skirt with what appears to be a basic white shell and my yellow jacket from Talbot's. To spice up the look I added yellow and black color-block city sandals from Shoe Dazzle and my Henri Bendel tote.
After work, I planned on going out to meet my girlfriends for drinks, so I needed to flip this look into something a little more playful. I removed the jacket and untucked the top and added a chunky silver necklace from Chico's. Additionally I unzipped the split over the knee and popped on my FAVE Shoe Mint studded pumps! I neglected to photograph the back of my Fashion to Figure top, but the back is open and has a single button closure.

I took this look one step further and created a date night look. Because the skirt is almost a midi length pencil, I was able to pull it up over my breast and create a mini, bodycon dress. To define my curves I added my Lane Bryant Obi belt and topped it off with my yellow jacket I wore to work earlier that day and a fringe Fashion to Figure clutch. I switched up the shoes and went with a black pump and zipped the split down to only be about 2 inches long.

So, What do you think? I hope you have enjoyed this post and it inspires you to find creative ways to take your look from day to play!
